Ice Rink At Somerset House Opens
Ice rinks seem to be the fashion at the moment. Popping up in the glacial shades of imposing buildings all over the city, carving up the ice is becoming something of a Christmas tradition.
Leader of them all and very much ahead of the game is Somerset House, celebrating its tenth year in delighting tourists and Londoners alike. This year it has collaborated with Tiffany’s, injecting a little romance and glamour into what may be conceived as a childhood past time. It may be advisable not to go on a ‘Penguin Club’ night if that is what you are trying to avoid.
However, for a more adult evening, the ice rink is open until late on certain dates with performances from specially selected DJs. Expect appearances from Ministry of Sound musicians such as Tall Paul, Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy.
But this is not Ibiza 2009. Being sponsored by Tiffany’s ensures that this an altogether classy affair, and the addition of the ‘Tiffany Tuck Shop’ certainly does not mean you will find penny sweets here. Munch on designer cupcakes, sip spiced Christmas drinks and frost yourself with the brand’s iconic, sparkling jewellery.
The ice rink at Somerset House opened its doors on 17th November and will remain in the picturesque courtyard for the duration of the festive period until 24th January.
