Marian Coxall, Manager at Ella’s Bakehouse

We talked to Marian from Ella’s Bakehouse about life in the shop and in Covent Garden.
What is it like being a new shop in Covent Garden?
There’s very much a community feel here, we’re like one big happy family! Everyone is friendly and really supportive of each other, no-one is out to spite anyone in business or anything like that. It’s a really unique place to work.
What do you think Covent Garden is a good location for the store?
It doesn’t have a big high street vibe and that’s very rare in London. It’s full of little boutiques, one-off stores and markets. I think if you can’t make it here you won’t make it anywhere.
Who are the cupcake lovers?
Everyone! Women obviously love it because it’s very girly but we do get a lot of men buying for company events and girlfriends, wives, and daughters etc. We couldn’t think of a better way for men to get in the good books!
What’s your favourite cupcake?
The Red Velvet and the Raspberry Lemon cupcakes are my favourites, but the Chocolate and Cookies and Cream flavours are also popular.
Yum! So do you have anything new coming in soon or any Christmas treats to tempt us?
Well we serve Musetti coffee which is the best you can buy and at Christmas we will be expanding our range from cupcakes to meringues, biscuits, marshmallows and real Christmas cakes. We’ll have lots of gift ideas so make sure you pay us a visit!
